OREM — Commercial and residential development plans were
announced Friday for the 1,750 acre site previously occupied by the Geneva
Steel.
Anderson Development held a public open house Friday morning
where invited speakers announced a few more detailed plans for the
master-planned community called The Forge @
Geneva.
Greg Miller, CEO of Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, made the
announcement that a Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theater will be a major anchor in
the new development. The theater will include a state-of the-art, five-story
IMAX screen with exclusive technologies and13 digital auditoriums.
Miller said that the theater would house up to 3,000 people and
it will create 100 new full- and part-time jobs.
Weather permitting, the Megaplex is scheduled to open in time
for the 2014 holidays.
Utah Valley University President, Matthew Holland, announced the
option for UVU to buy an additional 125 acres to expand the campus. UVU has
already purchased 100 acres to build new classrooms and intramural fields.
Gerald Anderson, Anderson Geneva Principal, announced that Day's
Market will also be opening a new location at the Geneva master-planned
community.
According to the press release, the development will be broken
down between residential and commercial areas as follows: •
11 million square feet of total available space supporting
20,000 jobs

housing for 26,000 residents

2 million square feet of retail space

3.5 million square feet of office space
•
7,600 residential units
•
5 million square feet of industrial space
•
Future home of 26,000 total residents

Intermodal Hub

Major Town Center
The Geneva site is the last remaining parcel of its size within
Utah County.
