Provo-Orem area second best performing area in the nation.

The Milken Institute has announced this year's best-performing cities. Austin, Texas, was number one followed by Provo-Orem as Best-Performing Cities of 2013. The institute's annual index shows that technology and energy are the greatest driving forces in growing metro areas.
 The 2013 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth. The components include job, wage and salary, and technology growth. In most years, these give a good indication of the underlying structural performance of regional economics.


Provo-Orem – A report by Engine and the Kauffman Foundation showed that the PROVO-OREM cluster was 11th in the United States for information and communications high-tech startup density.
Orem – Security and home automation company PROTECTION 1 opened an office near the campus of Utah Valley University. The office is expected to employ about 200 people.
Orem – Construction began on a new KNEADERS BAKERY & CAFE in Orem. The new store will offer additional space for classes and special events.
Orem – CORRECTIVE EDUCATION COMPANY formed a partnership with AIRWATCH. CEC will incorporate AirWatch security and management capabilities in its retail loss prevention solution.
