HB59 repeals the involvement of the governor and the nominating and recruiting 17 committee in the nomination of candidates for the State Board of Education.

                                                   Jim Nielsen
Representative Jim Nielsen's HB 59 SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS PROVISIONS,  repeals the involvement of the governor and the nominating and recruiting committee in the nomination of candidates for the State Board of Education, while at the same time keeping School Board races
non-partisan.

I would like to note here that the Federal Election Commission rules only apply to partisan races, so as long as school board races are non-partisan it is possible to campaign on school property, using

tax dollars and government equipment and offices.

This bill would give the control of the state board of education back to the voters, NOT exclusively

in the hands of the governor.
