HB 264 Committee Vote

Currently,  a governor-appointed committee recruits and nominates at least three candidates for each seat and then forwards those names to the governor, who chooses two candidates for each seat to appear on the ballot.  This policy allows for a committee to take off very popular incumbents with the voters and replace them with special interest candidates.

Last year there was a law suit amid complaints that only voucher friendly candidates' names were submitted to the governor.
